The day of travel started off a little bumpy. We had to drive 77 miles to JFK airport. We gave ourselves two hours to make the car ride. After 3 long frustrating hours we arrived at JFK airport. I became an expert New York driver during the car ride as I shouted all sorts of profanity at my fellow drivers.
Thankfully, that was the worst part of our trip. From there, we flew through JFK airport, got on our plane and took off for Dublin on time.
In Dublin, we went through security and then waited for our flight to Vienna to take off. Yes, while we waited I got my Guinness. Maybe it was from the lack of sleep or it was 5AM, but it tasted the same as Guinness in the US.
Our flight to Vienna again was on time and took off and landed on time. We all think Air Lingus is a very efficient airline. After we landed in Vienna, we grabbed our bags and our driver was waiting for us to take us to our apartment.
At the apartment, our landlord Hans Peter, was waiting for us. He showed us the apartment and explained how things worked. Stacy and I were pretty tired at this point so we just nodded our heads alot. I thought it was funny that he emphasized the tap water in Vienna was of the best quality. His proof of that was that tadpoles his son caught, they kept in a bowl with tap water and they did not die. I was not sure how to respond to him on this.
Although we all wanted to go to bed at this point, it was 2PM local time and we knew we would be up all night if we took a nap. So we went to grab some lunch. Our first meal in Vienna... pizza and salad:)
From there, we roamed our neighborhood and picked up some grocerys. Stacy whipped up our first home cooked dinner that night (gnocchi and beans and a salad). Then we all went to bed... or at least tried to!
