Growing up in rural New Jersey, one of the joys I experienced was riding my bike. I remember the first time I rode without training wheels, the wind whipping the tassels on the handlebars, my hair flowing freely behind me, I felt like I was flying. Growing up in a more urban environment, we take the girls to an open space like the beach walk or park to experience biking. But, there is something to be said about speeding down the road, uninhibited by car traffic or getting lost... it is just you, your bike and the road. This, I remember, was riding freedom for me when I was young and I think the girls will agree, rural NJ does have a couple perks. But, don't tell grandma, she might get some ideas.
