At 5.20pm local time in Perth Western Australia on 30th January 2012 - our trip ended....

As you may tell from the above, we made the decision with our head and not our hearts - which were pretty heavy!  We did what we thought we 'should' do - not really what we wanted to - and isn't that the way of the world?  Look into your heart right now...are you doing what you want or what you think you should?? -  See I'm all philosophical!!

But enough - we will get into it and will settle back into our groove. (Wont' we?)

So, how did it happen?  Well you know me and my 'signs' - I wanted one to help with the decision making - and I think I got two!! Firstly after searching for a job back in Perth for Fabio - they were few and far between - because of our shift in priorities and views, we want something that fits in with our life, not a life that fits in with work.  So a bit fussy!  Then out of the blue - the company that Fabio worked for in Queensland (that he loved)  had a position for him over here - we had 24 hours to make our minds up.  (A sign??).  We said yes.

Then of course nature also sent one - cyclone Iggy - a day after we packed up and left, Coral Bay got evacuated and so we would have had to leave anyway.

So the day came and the children wanted one last ice cream sundae from the fabulous Fins Cafe in  The Bay - what could we say - we were running late but what difference would 20 minutes make?  HUH!  Famous last words.  There had been a bushfire raging around the shire of Carnarvon since the end of December - and now it decides to cross the North West Coastal Highway!  Yup, we missed getting through by 15 minutes and now they were closing it for 2 days!  Mainly because of the winds effecting the area now because of Iggy.

So we had to take refuge in Carnarvon - and of course so did all the evacuees from Coral Bay - so we said goodbye to them one day and hello again the next!!  (I know what you are thinking - a sign to stay?).

But we didn't - and now it is too many weeks later and frankly I wish we had.  Seriously we should have been brave and just did it. But we didn't.

Sooo what have we been doing...Well the children have settled back into school and there do not appear to be any gaps in their education, so that's a relief to this non teacher, teacher.  Jack won an award at school for settling back in so well.

They have become ensconced in swimming for the school and I seemed to be at an event every other day! Leila and Jack both got through to the Interschool competition - 8 different schools competing.  Leila came 4th (missed 3rd by a milli second) in division A and Jack pulled 2nd in division B - Let me tell you I was the proudest mum out there.  It was the first time that I felt we had done the right thing...for them.

Leila is thoroughly enjoying being back - it's a friend thing.  Jack, swings back and forth and Adam hates it - he cannot understand why he has to be at school ALL day!  We only did 3 hours a day homeschool and that was fine with him.

We have been back in our house for a few weeks now - as the lovely Kelly, Curtis and family who had been looking after our home, found a disco house (another story). and WE are in the process of sorting things out.  All the stuff we had - Oh my goodness, so much STUFF - after being on the road for two years with so little, it really makes you rethink things - you need so little yet have so much.  Well make that a 'had' as I am having a sort out!  We have made four trips with a full trailer, to the tip so far.  I am not storing things any more, we use it or its gone.

As or clothes, well I am looking quite 'turned' out most days as once again, I am not storing clothes in the cupboard, I'm wearing them - and if that makes me completely over dressed for the school drop off then so be it - wearing, not storing!

The school holidays have made me all wistful again, but a day at Adventure World, every other day at the beach and a trip to Margaret River, has made it all a bit easier - although every time I see a caravan, I let out a huge sigh (and get on everyone's nerves - apparently) and wonder what adventures they are about to embark on.

I am really trying to settle, but with the weather getting cooler and the approach of winter, at this stage I am not sure that I will see the year out - as that is what we have said.  I miss travelling yes, but if I have to stay somewhere, yes Perth is beautiful - BUT when I ended my blog last time with 'Head or Heart' I didn't realise that it really was like that and when I chose head, I didn't realise
that part of my heart would stay in Coral Bay...but it's time to get on.

After all, once again, It's not just about me is it........

So photos....just some of my early random favourites before we got to Coral Bay the first time.
