Where I stayed

We are still living on the coast
Here in Coral Bay.
Life is really good and it
Looks like we're here to stay.

"It never rains in Coral Bay"
The locals like to quote.
But one day last week,
I thought we'd need a boat!

Mostly though it's beautiful
Day after day after day.
So I'm pretty much joining in with the:
"It never rains in Coral Bay"

We've met up once again with
A family that really rocks
There's six of them altogether
Called 'The Flock of Peacocks'

The children could not be happier
And they all get along just fine.
Jo (the mum) is as zanny as me
So at last I get some girl time.

The main past time here
is snorkelling in the crystal clear water
We've been here four weeks now,
So yesterday, I thought I oughta.

I donned on the mask and snorkel
and dunked my head under
I couldn't believe my eyes
and came up full of wonder.

From the surface you see a shadow
and know its part of the reef
But once under, you see the fish, the colours, the coral
It's almost beyond belief.

The children are so confident
and duck dive way on down.
So look out Ningaloo Reef
There's a new fish in town!

Being as we have hit the pause button, I thought I would throw in a strange rhyme!  I have also answered a few calls for some photos of me. I thought I would also fill you in on some 'normal' stuff:

The schooling is going well but I have to say is much more intense than I thought.  I always admired the teachers in our society and never more so than now.  Just the preparation alone!  I think I am learning as much as the children.  Okay, okay, without asking the kids, can you remember what a pronoun is? I have found an awesome homeschooling website now and feel a lot more confident about keeping up with their education - Might do this longer!!

Leila really misses her friends, more so than the boys. She misses doing girly things with her mates.
They still have their fair share of arguing and sorting out the bickering is tiresome, but overall they really get along and its great to see.

There is a lot less time than I thought.  It's not a holiday, that's for sure.  However, there are no real time lines.  Basically it's structuring the day around the weather and the wind and what is the best time to go to the beach.  The children snorkel like they've been doing it all their lives.  Duck diving down to the reef and now so proud of ME that I have done it!  It took a while as I really was not that keen to give up the breathing above ground.  But once I got my head round it - I just can't believe the world down there.  I know so many people told me this, but I didn't realise that unless you get too close, these fish strut around down there without any regard for us milling around on the surface.

Fabio is working and is pretty much the man of the moment in town due to his ability to do just about anything.  He is actually enjoying work as there is so much variety and its still in such a holiday atmosphere.

There are a lot of families travelling around as we pretty much all say that this is the best thing we have ever done and can't understand why everyone is not doing this. We have stopped for a while and yes I know we have not left the state - and we may never. Let's face it, WA is HUGE - but it is an amazing place and this spot here pretty much is right up there. When we were on the road I thought that it would be boring, but the changes in the landscape makes it hard not to look where we are going all the time.  (That and the fact that Fab keeps nodding off!!!!)  NOT REALLY!!

So think again - are you having the time of your life - I know you are at the moment, reading this would be right up there!!  But seriously... think about it, should you not get up and get out there, you never know what is round that it now!!!!  Come and join us....or at least drop me a line and let me know whats going on is your world - even better, send me a short rhyme!!

Looking forward to hearing from YOU!!

Love the rhyms, wow, I am envious, travelled a similar road in 1983, a lot younger and no children but stil the same feeling of freedom. There is still so much more, drop into 80 mile beach, camped on the beach back then and it was remotely wild, not sure of the set up now but hoping is still worth a look, from memory had to get permission from farmer to get access but that may have all changed now. The north west just keeps getting better at this time of the year, weather perfect every day, amazing colours in the landscape and those long hauls up the highway end up being quite magical. If you are short of reading material grab any of Tim Winton's books, Dirt Music, Cloud Street and Breath are my favorites, if you don't know him, he is a local boy and the books are set in WA coastal towns or local Perth - should add to your experience of the environment you are enjoying....don't forget the wet season is upon you come October, heat starts to ware you down and the humitity can be mentally draining, I have spent a couple of wet seasons in Broome and Darwin and still have amazing memories of those times but it is draining and can have a huge affect on the old tolerance saying that had the most amazing experience at Mataranka outside of Darwin in the middle of the wet season, everyone on edge, a long season but spent a couple of weeks relaxing in their natural springs with high temperatures and humidity and came out feeling revived. Hmmmm, down town Perth, life is to busy, I think this has been my most demanding year in workload so no time for smelling the roses, never get down to the school, make it to a few P&C meetings, books still not audited, I am laughing now, your days are long and memorable, mine are like ground hog day OMG is it Monday again! You are right, everyone needs to get off the treadmill , there is so much more.....On another note, have secured a laptop for my sister to start her book, of course I will be fussing aroung on the outskirts, it was never my intention to write but to assist a more articulate person in telling a story....
Take care of you and your beautiful family
