We left Semuc Champey and headed for a town only 12km away that we had passed through on the way to the national park. We had already said that we would head back here and stay a night due to the beauty of the area. Although Lanquin sees many tourists, mainly those like us, passing through, it has kept it´s rural face and the people live there the way they have for many years. Our hostel gave us a great view of the surrounding mountains and we spent the night drinking and talking, telling tales and enjoying the fresh country air. It was a pleasant stopover, unlike the normal places we use as stopgaps between towns and cities. The local food was lovely, the village people were extremely friendly and the whole place had a warm glow to it. We were woken the next morning by the local church, blasting out their praises to the lord. A perfect end to a perfect night.
