We left Semuc Champey and headed for a town only 12km away that we had passed through on the way to the national park. We had already said that we would head back here and stay a night due to the beauty of the area. Although Lanquin sees many tourists, mainly those like us, passing through, it has kept itīs rural face and the people live there the way they have for many years. Our hostel gave us a great view of the surrounding mountains and we spent the night drinking and talking, telling tales and enjoying the fresh country air. It was a pleasant stopover, unlike the normal places we use as stopgaps between towns and cities. The local food was lovely, the village people were extremely friendly and the whole place had a warm glow to it. We were woken the next morning by the local church, blasting out their praises to the lord. A perfect end to a perfect night.
