Where I stayed
I hung out on the deck until some clothes finished the wash cycle and left at 10:30 for a local beach about a quarter mile away. Around noon, I returned to the vendors' tents that I visited yesterday. Their prices are a small fraction of what you'd pay in the stores. I think the curios sellers have made their annual forecast in sales thanks to me. Yeesh.
Then back about a mile east to the Sheraton Hotel which is situated by Poipu Beach, the best beach on the island. Today was still a holiday for many after Thursday Thankgiving. Today is the infamous "Black Friday" shopping day (everyone seemed to go to Walmart which opened at midnight so people didn't have to line up at 4am.)
The water temperature was 77F with light seas today, but salty
4pm found me in Old Koloa town for a walk down the boardwalk and another poke through their little shops. There was a fruit market today so I got 3 different species of oranges -- 4 if you include a free Mandarin. "With this one, you roll it on a table to loosen the juice which it's full of, then bite off the 'tit' and suck out the juice." Sounds super albeit a bit racy, but it's in the fridge getting cold for a late-night snack.
Tonight I broke down and got a pizza in Old Koloa. I had a dip in the sun-heated pool here to wash off the salt. The sun just set and I heard thunder so I'm in the for night. Suddenly we got some big black clouds!
This was perhaps the most relaxing day of the bunch, more in line with what I came here for.
