Our last destination is to visit Powerscourt Gardens. Reminiscent of grand European palace gardens like Versailles, it is better than any we've seen in Ireland and deserves its 3 star rating. The blooms were fading, but there were no crowds and we strolled through North American forests, Japanese styled gardens, walled with formal flower beds, and a pet cemetery. The Italian statuary, acres of steps and grass set with the backscape of the Wicklow Mountains makes it a favorite for movie sets like Barry Lyndon.

Afterwards we enjoy a picnic lunch in the Enniskillen town square after buying our last gifts for friends and family. We've found that prices are very consistent all over Ireland, but the selection varies so it worked out well to buy things as we found them. Back in Bray we finish last minute errands like ATM withdrawal to finish the trip, toll coins for the road to the airport, and we repack so we're carrying any breakable and valuable items. Christine is nice enough to dispose of our "rubbish" - towels we needed for the Ballyvaughan cottage, clothes to throw away, old travel brochures etc. We have our last meal at The Porter House, a small, local brew pub, sharing a carafe of red Spanish wine...go figure.
