We step off the creaky bus that brought us from Kuala Lumpur, nowhere to stay and time getting on!
We go in search of a cheap hostel, something that we find out doesn't exist in Singapore. After sampling the smells of Little India and getting taxis to nowhere, we hit an internet cafe. Luckily a friendly traveller points us in the right direction and we're soon settled in a hotel. Looking for somewhere cheap went out the window about two hours ago!
We then head out into the neon lit streets of this famous city. Instantly we like the feel of the place. The streets are massively wide and well lit, there is no litter, no beggars and no chewing gum! That's what capital punishment does for a country...
We do the sights over the next two days, from sipping Singapore Slings in the Long Bar at the Raffles Hotel to eating at the trendy waterfront bars Sipping Singapore Slings at Raffles.

. Obviously we fit in well with the young and rich of Singapore! The staff at Raffles could do with getting some extra cleaners in though, the floor of the bar was an inch deep in monkey nut shells, the nuts being given free to patrons. Dave puts in a good showing of eating as much of the free food as possible!
The place we enjoyed most in Singapore was the world leading zoo. What a great place, the whole zoo being landscaped to perfection with impressive enclosures for nearly all the animals. The big hitters at the zoo are undoubtedly the white Bengal tigers. Absolutely beautiful! Makes the tigers in Thailand seem like plain Janes.
We watched as the male paced around before taking a swim in the water, always aware that there were people watching him.
We were also really impressed with the free-range Orangutangs, living in the trees only feet above your heads. They would swing leisurely from tree-to-tree within touching distance, living up to their name of the 'old man of the forest'.
We spent a whole day at the zoo, and it was worth it. If you ever find yourself at a loose end in Singapore then go to the zoo.
Singapore on a Sunday night is when the boy racers come out to play. No dodgy Novas or Saxos here though, they all drive Subarus or Evos, and one or three Lamborghinis! They didn't even park up in MacDonalds carpark.

Singapore is most definitely a Super City. It is much more than just being a stop-over for travellers heading Down Under. We leave heading that way!
