We leave the excitment of Chitwan behind and head to the capital. The journey is best forgotten, mile upon mile of broken mountain roads, the sheer drops not more than a violent steering movement away.
We make it to Kathmandu. Alive.
Kathmandu is a city of fake North Face shops and hippy clothing stalls. It is full of trekkers, and I don't mean
Dr. Spock! The hotel is basic but clean.
We head out into town, it's Alison 24th birthday and we are promised a night of clubbing.
A meal is quickly eaten and into a bar we head. The sound of thumping music takes us up some stairs and into the only gay Hip-Hop bar in Nepal!! It takes me a while to settle in, but the DJ knows his stuff. Saturday Night Fever begins and so does the dancing!
It's late when we leave, and the streets are deserted, except for the group of police with large sticks that move us on. This place's party tag seems misplaced.
The next day we spend the morning visiting Hindu and Buddhist temples. More photos are taken, I will be an expert on Hindu-Islamic architecture.
Tomorrow we finish our tour and begin our Jomsom Trek.
