2/18 Iguazu Falls, Argentina/Brazil
Miles travelled: 47540 This is one of the most spectacular places we have ever been -- and it's actually "low water" because of the dry season. Iguazu Falls (Cataratas in Spanish) is actually a series of 275 waterfalls spread over about 2.7 km, including a semicircular region known as "Devils Throat". After visiting Iguazu, Eleanor Roosevelt is said to have remarked, "Poor Niagara". We had time to explore the viewpoints from both the Argentine and Brazilian sides, and take a boat ride down into the spray of San Martin falls. Pictures and even video cannot suffice to depict the roar and power of the water. Truly amazing. More thumbnails ...
