Djiffer, 10/31
Miles Travelled: 16078
We have travelled about 100 miles south of Dakar along the coast to a town called Djiffer. It is near a protected area of mangrove swamps, and is primarily a fishing village. We have a beautiful setting for our campsite right along the lagoon. It is blistering hot (over 95 degrees) and humid (sort of like South Carolina, I suppose). Going to sleep is difficult because as soon as you lie down, your back is covered with sweat. Fortunately there is running water at this campsite and so there are showers. We took a boat ride to pay a visit to a small town (and of course we got routed to their "artisan market" where all sorts of trinkets were for sale.)
