Where I stayed
After leaving Nasca we did an 18 hour bus marathon to get to Cusco, it was an over nighter but with really comfortable seating arrangements, think Lazy boy :-) It wasn't too bad a journey but there were a couple of downers, like puking Chinese tourists and a toilet that didn't flush, not a great combination!! To put this into context, Luke was coming out of the loo in the middle of the night and there was a Chinese lady that had fallen over and was about to vomit, he had to pick up and literally chuck her into the toilet to stop her throwing up on his feet, lovely! LOL
On the plus side we stopped once (hense the use of the bus toilet) at a Peruvian style welcome break, i.e
During the bus journey all we thought about was having a hot shower, but when we arrived at our hostel we found that not only did we have no hot water, there was actually no water, at all until 4am the next morning due to the mudslides that had washed the pipes away. Aaah welcome to South America!
Today we experienced the end of the carnival in Cusco with a parade through the main square,it was really vibrant with lots of traditional Peruvian outfits etc.
Cusco is really picturesque and full of hippies, tourists (in their travel gear, us included) and touts etc. It's been a nice place to chill for a couple of days but we are now ready and raring for our tour tomorrow.
