On the way to the camp site last night we had noticed a launderette and as we had to go back out on that road we decided to stop off and do our washing. While Mel stayed and did the laundry, Neil took the bus to a car wash just up the road as it was looking a bit dirty after all the rain we came through a couple of days ago.
Then it was lunch time and as we hadn't anything in, decided to stop at McDonalds.
Afterwards we headed south on highway 41 and before long the road came out alongside the harbour at Sarasota which was very picturesque.
South of Sarasota we passed through lots of towns that just seemed to have merged into one continuous strip. Neil has begun to think that Florida is one very long row of shops. Among that very long row we found Wal-Mart where we stocked up on groceries and also invested in an electric fan
In order to avoid the urban sprawl of Port Charlotte and Fort Myers we jumped on the I-75 just south of Venice for the final leg of our journey to Koreshan State Historic Site at Estero. The park is on land that, from 1894 to the early 1960's, was home to the Koreshan Unity, a colony whose faith "Koreshanity," centred around the belief that the entire universe existed within a giant, hollow sphere.
We asked for a pitch close to the bathrooms and despite the large availability of pitches, were given what must have been the furthest possible pitch away from them. So back at the ranger station the ranger made up for it by giving us one of the concrete disabled pitches right next to the bathrooms instead of the regular sandy pitches which harbour all the nasty biting things.
We relaxed into the evening with our newly acquired electric fan, and what a difference it makes. $8 well spent!

No She Hasn't!
. The nights seem to have been getting hotter and stickier the last few weeks and it makes it really uncomfortable for sleeping.
