After 10 hours of well-needed sleep, we woke early (thanks in part to a call from the UK!) to a very grey, overcast LA morning. Eager to get down to San Diego and see our bus we got packed up and on the road for 8am. Our journey from LA to San Diego took just under two hours, and to Mel's great delight took us past an IKEA store. We arrived at the address we had for San Diego Classic Volkswagen to find no workshop and no sign of any VW's! For a nano-second, the thought crossed both our minds that we had been conned, that there was no SDCVW, and ultimately no bus! But then we realised it was a mail-box address, so after a quick phone call we had a new address 15 minutes away. By now the sun had come out and it was nice and warm.
We arrived at the workshop to find our bus looking exactly as it had on SDCVW's web-site - fantastic! Anyone who would like to see the restoration of the bus from beginning to end can go to www.sandiegoclassicvolkswagen.com and click on the "busmonkeys" link. After a look around the bus and a chat with Chris, the owner of SDCVW, we left to find our motel
In the evening, had a very bad experience at Pizza Hut. No waitress service; two counter assistants that spoke to us as if we were from another planet; an attempt to charge us an extra topping fee for taking off a meat topping and replacing it with a vegetable one, and then to top it all off a refusal to accept our travellers cheques. So we walked out! Not sure what's happened to the good old American hospitality!?

. Once checked in and unloaded, we headed south to Atlantic City to find an upholstery fabric warehouse Chris had recommended, in order to choose our new seat fabric. That done, we spent the rest of the afternoon checking out some large stores for camping equipment and stuff. In the evening, had a very bad experience at Pizza Hut.
