Today we left our friends Linda and Andrew behind and headed inland on a 420km drive to Kamloops where we stop overnight on the way to Banff. The scenery suddenly changed half way into the drive from lush green tree covered mountains to much more barren looking brown scorched hillsides. The reason was obvious when you step  out of the car. The weather was beautiful when we left Vancouver, a sunny 24 degrees but is much hotter in the Fraser Valley. A good 7 degrees warmer. We stopped off at Hell's Gate on the way, the narrowest point on the Fraser River but the water is 150ft deep. Apparently twice as much water rushes through that gap every minute than over Niagra Falls.
