Stayed in a teepee but the camera broke!
Entry 21 of 25 | show all | print this entry |
Hi everyone, Sorry, I'm afraid this one is just for reading (I'm sure many of you will have left the page already). We went away for 3 days last week to a place in central Victoria called Echua and stayed in a teepee which was fantastic but, alas, the camera is broken so you'll have to use your imaginations! It was about a 3 hour drive from Melbourne through some very beautiful but very hickesville farm land - that seems to be a recurring theme here in Oz - in a very uneventful journey except a nasty incident where (WARNING SARAH CHRISTIE LOOK AWAY NOW!) I nearly ate the hugest spider I have ever seen which I found in my safeways salad roll. I spotted it just in time but it was missing 4 legs so i fear they may have been munched in my last bite, Eek! (okay sarah you can look back now - serious arachnaphobic incase you all thought I'd gone mad) So we got to the teepee's which were on a site 5 km up a dirt track which was very interesting in the wee purple corsa! We had the whole site to ourselves and the teepee's were great, including 4 single mattresses and 1 double which we piled up princess and the pea style. The only problem being the whole on the roof where the poles met where wee birds cam in in the morning and left lovely presents on our sleeping bags! Echuca is an old Port on the Murray River (which is muddy and brown all the time) at one point it was so busy that they were going to make it the capital city. There are old paddle steamers that you can go for trips on but we thought they looked too lame so hired a motor boat an zoomed along ourselves (okay maybe not zoomed, putt putt putt is more like it!) We also went for lunch at a winery in New South Wales cause the river is the border between the two states. It was fantastic. At night we had a a bbq and built a fire outside the teepee, so gutted we didn't have acamera, it was gorgeous. Okay thats it, really just wanted another dot on the map! Lots of love Clare and Fraser xxxx
