We took the 6 hour bus ride from Sharm El Sheikh to Cairo without any incidents whatsoever. Immediately uon our arrival at the bus terminal at 7:00pm, we went directly to the airport, even though our flight didnīt leave until 1:40 am later that evening.

As this is our last post from Egypt, here are some final thoughts about the land of Pharaohs, Pyramids and the Red Sea.....

· Camels every once in a while, in the wild alongside the highway
· The sunset on the Red Sea creating various colors of shadows on the mountains of the Sinai Peninsula
· Seeing a ship appear to cut through the desert at the Suez Canal
· The stillness of the Nile on our felucca trip
· HOT, HOT, SWEAT, HOT, SWEAT, HOT, HOT
· The ever present honking anytime walking: "Taxi? Where you from? Good price? Taxi? Why not? I give good discount?" (Yes, all of this from every taxi, carriage, and felucca driver)
· Sheeshas...yummy flavours
· Hot, mint laden tea on a hot day...really does cool you down
· Kilometres and kilometres, as far as the eye can see of brown sand
· A brownish haze...not smog...sand in the air
· Dinner for 2: $2.50 CDN
· The Pyramids at Giza
· The Temple at Abu Simbel
· Negotiating and haggling for everything...from bottled water to taxis to papyrus souvenirs
· How Cairo came alive after sunset
· How safe Cairo's streets felt after sunset
· Beautiful white egrets, the Nile's seagulls

Gerald's Worst Memories
3 - Tuna pizza in Aswan. (Even water wouldn't stay down when I drank later.)
2 - How shopkeepers seemed offended if we didn't go into their shops.
1 - Always being honked at by taxis and "taxis" looking for a fare while we were just out for a walk.

Tamalyn's Worst Memories
3 - Bus ride to Abu Simbel
2 - Getting ripped off at the Aswan market for "Nubian" hibiscus.
1 - The moment she found out the ferry wasn't operating to Sharm El Sheikh from Hurghada.

Gerald's Top 5
5 - Getting to the airport on time to leave Cairo. (I did not want to miss that flight out!)
4 - Abu Simbel
3 - The Giza Pyramids
2 - The Thistlegorm
1 - Lazy afternoon spent on the felucca, even if I was still sick.

Tamalyn's Top 5
5 - Abu Simbel and the Temple of Ramses II
4 - Enjoying coffee and a sheesha at Fishawi's in the souq in Cairo.
3 - Karnack Temple
2 - Felluca ride on the Nile in Aswan
1 - Diving in the Red Sea (Especially with the dolphins and eagle rays.)
