A great night's rest, albeit short, and a buffet breakfast started the day off well. Our mission was to find the dive boat! After a bit of running around and many questions, we did finally find the dive boat at the Travco Marina at about 1pm.
We met the Dive Master, Mohammed and Tita (the man of all trades...housekeeper, waiter, a/c guru) and got ourselves organized for a room and dive gear rental. Since we were first to show up, we got the pick of the rooms and chose space over a double bed. We then took off to kill off the afternoon. We knew that this is an easy task in Egypt as simple things like hitting the Internet café, a supermarket, the bank machine and having some lunch would easily eat up 4-5 hours and it did just that!
We returned back to the boat at around 6pm along with another diver that wasn't part of the charter coming from England. She was a riot: Aino (pronounced I Know) from Finland. A couple of hours later, Jos and Marten showed and eventually everyone arrived. We had a late and yummy supper, a short briefing, a little paperwork and then it was off to bed to rest up for the upcoming dives.
I (Tamalyn) still don't know how I managed to get any sleep that night. I was so keyed up. It was like Christmas Eve for me. Every once in a while, I'd turn to Gerald and say, with a huge grin and a giddy giggle, "We in the Red Sea, we're going to dive the Red Sea! We're really here!" I guess the late night and short sleep the night before turned out to be a great thing for me.
