Took the ferry over from Wellington to the seaside town of Picton!
The ferry ride was three hours and we definitely messed up by picking the 6pm time slot. The ferry weaves through the Sounds and is supposed to be beautiful, however it doesn't do it much justice to see it pitch black.
We spent the night at a cheap hostel where we slept in a room with about 30 people.
Next day we fully intended to keep on moving over to Marlborough, but got a little distracted by the stunning views of the water. Jay passed the docks and was a little too easily convinced to take a 6 hour trip out to the sounds to do some fishing! That left me to wander through the "thriving"town of Picton for six hours! I had decided to get my hair highlighted so that I can get on my way to being blonde for the wedding! Great deal.. 90 bucks kiwi works out to about 65 Canuck!

Jay caught a huge wad of fish which we would be eating for days!!!
