We are moving right along through the Tasman Sea. It is relatively smooth today and clear and cool. I did not order room service this morning so Asher could sleep in to continue to adjust to the time changes as we travel east. We are now in the time zone of New Zealand. It is the last time zone before the international date line. So when he finally wakes up at 9:30, we go up to breakfast on the lido deck. We break all diet restrictions this morning. I have eggs benedict and bacon and Asher has donuts to go with his regular cereal and bananas. After breakfast he went to camp and I prowled around the ship.
There are an amazing amount of things going on this ship during the day. Unlike other lines I have been on, the activities are not necessarily revenue driven. They are more enrichment driven. There are cooking classes and travel guidance (not shore excursions) computer classes, Olympics, bingo, classes on health and acupuncture, classes on jewels. There are raffles and cards, and dominoes, and jigsaw puzzles. There are trivia games and name that tune. If you can't find something that appeals to you there are lots of comfortable corners to curl up and read or you can order a movie in your stateroom.
And of course there are all of the eating and drinking venues. You can have pizza and grill food on the open lido deck or cafeteria style service at the inside lido restaurant, or the canelletto restaurant on the lido, or the dining room for fixed service or open dining or the pinnacle grill for specialty dining, and don’t forget 24 hour room service.
I pick Asher up at 11:30 and we go back to the stateroom to relax. We order room service for lunch. Soup and salad for me and soup and sandwich for Asher. It is good but not great. I think we are still full from breakfast. After lunch Asher goes back to Club HAL and I read and relax. They painted the volcano this afternoon. I pick him up at 4 and we play games and watch a movie in the room.
He wants pizza for dinner so we go up to the open lido deck and he has pizza and French fries and some fresh vegetables. After dinner he goes back to Camp HAL for movie night. I work on my blog and my photos. At 9 I pick him up and we go for bath and bed. Tomorrow is Thanksgiving and we will spend all day cruising through fjords in southwest New Zealand. I hope the weather holds so we can see. I am really looking forward to finally seeing Kiwi Country.
