OK! I'm back on the road again. In my last update I was a little lost with where to go next. Although I was thinking about going to Phuket, I decided to head back to Hat-Yai instead. Reason being, this was where my travels had finished prior to my return to Krabi for the Songkran festival. So it seemed only fitting to continue from this point in the hope I'd get some inspiration or ideas about where to go next. While I was back in Hat-Yai I spent a lot of time with my Ladyboy friend Nuk (Very good friends, NO boom boom) whom I’d met during my last visit here. I also met up with another traveller called Rich who was staying at the same guesthouse as me and we went on a few day trips via train and bus to the deep south of Thailand, including both Yala (where there were more militia and guns than 7 elevens) and Songkhla. It only cost the equivalent of 30p to go to these places via train or bus so although there was nothing of major interest to warrant staying there a long time, it made for a good (and very cheap) day trip.

I’ve also been thinking about my long term travel plans. Due to me being of a "certain age" it's either now or never to apply for an Australian working VISA. If I don't get accepted then I’ll just stay in Thailand until my money runs out and return home when the time comes. However, if I am accepted, I’ll be leaving Thailand mid October (just before my birthday) and will be flying straight to Australia where I’ll work and live for a minimum of 6months, but up to a year if all goes well. I’ll use the money I earn in Australia to come back to South East Asia for about a year again. Nothing's certain until I do or don't get the Australian VISA, that’s "IF" I even end up applying for it in the first place. It’s still very much just a thought for now. A possibility, not a certainty.

Returning to Hat-Yai paid off in the end as after studying a map I realized something. I’ve actually inadvertently travelled down the entire west coast of Southern Thailand (Andaman Sea). This gave me an idea. From where I am now, I can travel up the East coast of Southern Thailand (Gulf of Thailand) and make my way to Bangkok. With the possibility of Australia in October, I need to get in gear and start making my way north, otherwise I wont have time to see the rest of Thailand. I now have a plan again.
