Today was a much lighter day than we have had, though, which was nice. The big rides should be over now. Yeah!
We got up this morning and left San Francisco. I was not sad to leave. It's a pretty place, but too much for me. I need my space, and those people live on top of one another. Not sure how anyone could do that and stay sane, but maybe they think the same about how we live.
We rode the 40 miles or so to Santa Cruz. Kind of a let down. It was like a ghost town. Maybe the vampires have taken over the entire population and they only come out at night now?
We did find a cute little cafe- we think it was called the Ocean Beach Cafe- across the street from the beach where we had lunch. Turns out the building it's in is one of the oldest buildings in the area- built in 1924! It was adorable, and the food was quite good.
Since there was really nothing to do there, we hopped straight back on the bike and headed down to Monterey. After another 40 miles, we arrived in Monterey and checked into the motel. First things first, we dumped everything on the bed, gathered all the dirty clothes and walked the couple of blocks to the nearest laundrette. There's something satisfying about clean clothes.
We came back to the room, got on the bike (my jeans were still warm, yummy!), and rode down to Cannery Row. We then walked up to Fisherman's Warf and found a place to have dinner. Very pretty place.
We've got some really nice photo's from today. Unfortunately, I can't stay upright anymore, so I'm going to go to bed. Hopefully we can get pictures up tomorrow.
