ok so why is it that this editor has occasional fritz moments and starts editing the text backwards??  any comments on that are welcome.

The last bit for today was catching the cable car across the city to China Town .. but after buying the day trip tickets at the Fishermans Wharf depot we found that the queue was at least an hour or 2 long to get on ... this seemed really a pointless waste of time, so we set off up the track towards Lombard Street which is the worlds crookedest street .. it's the frist stop on the cable car and I figured we'd catch it from there as plenty of un knowing tourists (less fit than us would get off there)  and sure enough, although the hill is pretty steep we got there with  only 1 or 2 cable cars passing us .. had a quick look at the fiasco that is people driving down Lombard St .. and caught the next cable car .. plan worked like a treat and we were on the way at least an hour sooner than standing in the queue.  Next stop was China Town and we had a blast wandering round .. Jade was blown away by the amount of clothing and just how cheap it was ... I bought myself a really nice TaiChi outfit, including traditional shoes for about $45.  We also got some things for the kids (and I know Kelvin and Lauren are reading this wondering just what we bought them .. but it will be a surprise :)  )  Looking for a bathroom we found a public park that was packed with hundreds of the China town locals playing cards ... the people were amazing and I plugged in the zoom to the camera and got some cool people photos.
We headed back to the hotel around 4pm and changed to jeans as it was getting cooler .. which reminds me ... this morning was clear and sunny so Jade and I dressed in shorts and teeshirts .. and we found it plenty warm enough outside .. but the locals, and lots of other tourists, looked at us like we were insane .. dress ranged up to jackets and scarves .. Jade just realised how much 18 months in Upper Hutt has acclimatised her to cooler weather!
This evening we had dinner at the "Rainforest Cafe"  which I can highly recommend .. although a little expensive the food is excellent and the service was good .. and the surroundings are amazing with animitronic animals all over the place and it's got a huge waterfall down one side and entirely covered in plants ... and I mean all over.. there is no bare wall it's like eating in the jungle .. the ceiling is really high and painted like a night sky, with stars and even lighting.  It's worth the visit.
We're now settled in for an early night as we have an early start in the morning .. back on the bike and heading south towards Santa Cruz or somewhere along US 1 on the coast ... what we need urgently now is a laundrette .. we're getting a little short on clothing!

Don't leave your heart in San Francisco
San Francisco is one of my favorite cities. One of the coolest things to do is take the cable car to Chinatown, then walk back. It's a couple miles but it's such a great walk. We once found this huge Catholic Church with a big courtyard. People were camped out all over it, playing, sleeping, picnicing. Some of my best pictures of San Francisco were taken on the walks back to Fishermans Wharf from China Town. Something to keep in mind for next time.

San Fran
All this talk just makes me want to go back there. I know we only made it to the airport but it looked so cool flying in and there seems to be so much to do. I think I really have the travel bug now! Just need to talk to Maurice Mmmm!
