First of all the really bad bit .... we were settled into our room at the Holiday Inn and on deciding to sleep for the night climbed into bed ... that's when Jade noticed the friends we had sleeping with us ... bed bugs! We squashed a few .. then found more .. then I looked in the pillow cases - MORE! ... and another on the wall above the bed ... That's when I decided I couldn't sleep in the bed, I rang the front desk (it was almost midnight) the guy was a little shocked to hear about the non paying guests and said we could shift rooms .. 2 options and king size bed in a smoking room (ummm no thanks I'd almost rather have the bugs!) or a room with 2 double beds .. so that sounded manageable ... except that once we got there we discovered it was ground floor ... and the room was right on the footpath, with a tram track 10 feet away ... the noise was horrendous .. and we barely slept .. the 6am start to the trams woke me right away, and the constant sirens, talking from late night pedestrians, and just the road noise kept Jade awake too. So first thing in the morning I was at the front desk ... I described my 'disapointment' at the quality of the accomodation ... so we are now in a quiet room, with a king size bed ... and free parking for the bike (which at $40 per day + tax is not a bad reduction) ... but with 3 differnet rooms in 1 day we now have problems remembering where in the building to go!
I'm not sure if the bugs are a regular thing here .. but it really wasn't a happy place to be for us ... I'm not convinced that Holiday Inn will be a stopping place for us again after this.
On top of all this they say they have a pool and laundry ... only it turns out that both are in differnet buildings than the one we are staying in .. and wandering the streets of SanFran in bathing suit, or with a bag of laundry doesn't thrill me at all!
So if you ever get near the holiday inn (Beach Street) don't expect much in the way of available facilities!)
