Keeping the trip going, today we got up early and headed for Sea World.
First stop when we got in the gates was the face painting station. Ian wanted to be Batman, but oh my! After a bit of rain and getting soaked on Journey to Atlantis, he was looking more like a ghoul. The amount of double takes he got was hilarious!
Our second stop was the bat rays. The kids were having a blast petting them, but when I got a tray of fish to feed them, you would have thought it was Christmas. Even our resident girly girl, Lauren, couldn't wait to get her hands on a fish to try feeding to the rays.
On to the Shamu show "Believe." Ian wanted to sit right up front in the splash zone, and guess who was elected to sit with him? So I told him the water would be really really cold. "I don't want to get wet," he said, and we moved up to dry ground with the rest of the group. Thank goodness for that!

After a play at the playground we made our way to Journey of Atlantis, the roller coaster. Ian was tall enough, and quite keen to go. I was the one who was nervous about how he would handle it. I shouldn't have worried. When the ride stopped, a dripping wet, shivering cold Ian declared, "I'm going again!" We wound up going another 2 times right in a row, and he still didn't want to stop! He's such an adrenaline junkie.
When we went to the polar bears, Kelvin, my dad, Ian, and I rode the helicopter simulator. Ian was rapt! At the end of the ride, when we were "safe," he threw his hands in the air and said, "We made it! We made it! That was a close one!"
We also managed to see the penguins , the horses , the sharks , the manatees, the dolphin show , and a ride in the tower where we got a great view of San Diego at sunset. Plus another go at the playground before we headed back to the house for the night.

Ian and all
What a hoot Ian is. His Bat face looks so funny especially when its runny! What a wonderful time you are all having and the fun is a great way to start your married life. This birthday will be one that Lauren remembers for a long time. Love from us at home in NZ
