Where I stayed
Apartment at Hastalska 25
What I did
Republic Square, the main square and Charles Bridge
Back for a varied brekkie ie more cheeses but still mistook one bit for butter. Not an early rising crowd, the sense of quiet grumbling with 0745 brekkie and 0830 walk to the bus station.
Downloaded the morning pix, looking to save time later. The diary and blog consume the better part of an hour each day, a true labour of love. Readied and down in plenty of time, the artwork in hand.
The biceps got a workout, lugging the checked luggage, usually over a shoulder
There were two stops. Had a cappuccino with sugar. Many new apartment complexes are a light pastel shade. Many fields had had the crops already in. The sky is a faded blue. The music options were limited, only songs from Elvis and Bryan Adams recognized. Several roadside markers re traffic deaths. The countryside was pleasant.
By 1043 some 103k from Prague. The quality of the hay is less than that in Austria but a nice stack of it 7 bales high in pyramid form. Two lanes of traffic were slow with transport trucks, improving when 4 lanes on Hwy 4.
Into the outskirts of Prague by 1139, crossing the Vltava River [the same as in Cesky Krumlov] 5M later. The bus station was beside the Adele metro line on line B. We got off at Republic Square, having to lug the bag to the apartment. The guys are sharing with Amy and Nathalie, the former flustered re shared bathroom time
Off for a walk with Peter at 1315, showing us several spots, options for dinner, etc. Went to the Bohemia Bagel which seemingly ran out of bagels only for me; no matter 185 CC. Touring in earnest by 1400, including the main square, Wenceslas Square, etc. Peter pointed something out for Jan and I jokingly asked Peter if he really meant the anti-aging clinic sign below, a flustered look on his face.
Views of the Charles Bridge and the castle before seeing the statue of Charles IV and then going over the bridge, all the way to the Lennon Wall, more a source of graffiti than anything else.
To a bar for the pub quiz! Bought an Intrepid raffle ticket 2E and then everyone participated in the quiz, liberal cheating by most being part of the fun. Somehow I won [27 points], earning a free entry to a tower I have no idea where it is; not to worry.
Wandered a bit with the boys. I wanted to change attire so returned with Arjan while Don went off on his own re pix.
Arjan and I did a large walkabout before settling on a local place. I tried the native Budweiser with my rabbit. The meat was fine but I am not a fan of the dumpings, save the type seemingly deep fried.
Returned to the apartment after picking up some tea, nobody else in. Webmail, diary, pix and blog all took time. We depart c 0630 tomorrow.
