It has been more active since the recent earthquake, along with Volcano Poas near San Jose, but we couldnt see a thing, so much so that the next day when the clouds cleared a bit it was a shock to see how close it was!!
The lava used to run down the side facing the town and the many hotels built there deliberately for the views and the hot springs (which are rather relaxing!), but then just to be spiteful the lava started flowing the other way!!
Costa Rica is very nice, yes touristy (I found it easy to find postcards and souveniers everywhere!) but it hasnt really spoilt it, and there are still some places that are untouched by the tourist trade, or at least not to the same degree. Unfortunately the weather turned for the worst at the end of my time in Costa Rica and rained constantly when I was in Puerto Veijo on the Carribbean coast (hoping to top up the sun tan) but it was still a nice place to stay.
The group I was with were all really friendly and we got on really well with each other!
I've certainly enjoyed my time in Central America but I am ready for a change and looking forward to the next stage in my adventure!
