Sept. 11 :  Up at 5:30, expecting to leave by 7:00. Checked weather channel....OMG!  Does Not look good in direction we want to go. Slow moving LOW off the coast is dumping rain & tornado watches around Newark, DE. Planned to visit 'Mushroom Festival' just outside Newark today...hmmm, Stewed Mushrooms?????
Getting ready to go get breakfast.....more later on our 'SWIM' to Newark.......No Worries, it's all good.

PLEASE REMEMBER in your thoughts and prayers the Families & souls of those who perished on this day, eight years ago:

We made it safely to Newark, Delaware at about 8:45pm.  Rode about the last 90 miles in the rain and wind, but we made it.  We are bone tired but dry, thanks to good rain gear.   Didn't even stop for supper, had peanut butter crackers and Little Debbie oatmeal cakes once we got unloaded here in the room.  Will post pictures and notes tomorrow morning after we get some much needed rest.  Goodnight all.....

Gooooooood Mornnnning ALL!!!!.....slept like rocks...only problem here is this Super 8 rates "OK".....not as good as Franklin's, but was clean & comfortable.
First stop yesterday was the Chesapeake Bay Bridge & Tunnel, affectionally referred to by 'Fadie-Belle' (our GPS unit) as the CBBT) . We had lunch at the Restuarant/Gift Shop in the middle of the bay (GOOD CHEESEBURGER...Yumm), and stood at the point and watch ships go by & dolphins at play.
We did get to see (not visit) one eastern Virginia shore lighthouse, very different from S.C. lighthouses.
The rest of the trip was spent navigating in the rain & wind through areas of the countryside of Virginia, Maryland, & Delaware. Also passed through an area that had a record 6 1/2" of rainfall in 4 hours,.  Hi-way crews had shut down several lanes of roadway to clear the water off the roads.
We had the pleasure of crossing the Delaware Memorial Bridge in the dark, in the rain and in the high winds, but the bridge lights made it absolutely spectacular.  By then, all we wanted to do was arrive at the motel safe & sound. Mission Accomplished...THANKS BE TO GOD!!!

Ready to head out for day # 3, and more rainfall......"But, No Worries....It's All Good!
