The morning of our third day in Sedona and D's birthday. The weather at the start of our stay on Sunday was perfectly clear and warm, and it has pretty much held through sunrise this morning. Spectactular sunset over the mountains last evening. Took a ream of photos from south of town along Rt 127. Earlier in the day we found the town dog park, up on a hill with, yes, great views of the rocks, not that Maxine and Lucy cared. They spent the half hour or so trying to avoid getting mugged by the other dogs, a couple of which had undercarriages that Lucy walked under. The other dogs were actually well behaved; our dogs become quite shy around "the pack." We had a picnic lunch at Slide Rock State Park in Oak Creek Canyon, apparently a very popular swimming spot in the warmer months. Rested back at the BandB for a couple of hours, then out for some dinner and the sunset photos. A great pizza at a place ncalled the Blue Moon Cafe which, alas, was out of Blue Moon beer. Their signature beverage!! Restaurant is next door to a bicycle shop, which had a dozen or so trail bikes for rent out front. Had my eye on a red Specialized Sirrus, 61cm frame, but as we're leaving here in 36 hours, no way. Maybe when we get to Issaquah. Between Sunday and Tuesday Sedona really got crowded. Easter Break. Lots of young parents with kids, lots of cars, a good deal of road construction just south of our BandB. Today is probably a stay close to the nest day. We'll have D's birthday dinner and get ready for departure tomorrow morning (rain predicted) and the next and final stage of our trip to the Pacific Northwest.
