First and foremost I had the pressing issue of catching up on Game of Thrones. After watching Khaleesi burn some bitches with Catty, I got started on working out the washing machine. My Mandarin is rusty but I managed to guess the right cycle. I headed to the buildings' gym, where I was the largest person by merit of being Caucasian, and then headed out into the wild depths of hong kong.

I decided to check out the local food and so headed to Café de Coral - surely a Michelin star restaurant. I queued in line for a pristine looking Chinese woman who barked commands at me as I meekly ordered by pointing at pictures. I got my ticket and went to a nearby food dispensing section. There were 6 people working there like furious ants. Each person was responsible for completing one part of the order onto the tray. I gave my ticket in and the manager - who looked like he had only had sex once in his life and knew it was the last time - screamed some orders in Cantonese. Everyone flurried around him and each person individually brought a portion of my order until my tray was full. It was ruthlessly efficient fast food manufacturing with a stern brow. The food didnt look anything like the picture, and not entirely like food itself. I ate it nevertheless and then heading out to the National History museum. I got the metro, which is super cheap and clean, and was there in no time.

I've decided that I'm carrying too much luggage and that Im actually going to be paying too much for flights as Ill have to check my bag in. My current bag is around 80L and weighs around 17KG. So I decided to head out and look for a new smaller one. They were all super expensive so I gave up, like the British gave up on Hong Kong.

The museum was the history of the island right from the start of time to present day. There were lots of wax Neanderthals which I didnt take pictures of for some reason. I did manage to get 3 different pictures of the bun tower for some reason though - clearly Cafe de Coral had not sufficiently filled my appetite. They also had really interesting exhibits about what the shops looked like in the early 20th century.

I met Rob after work and we headed to a little restaurant where he plied me with raspberry cocktails with Sarah. Afterwards, Rob impressed me by managing to find a backpack which was a quarter of the price of the ones I'd seen earlier from a shady wheeler dealer spicy market seller on a laneway known for prostitution. This one was 55L and when I got home I made the Sophie's Choice decision to dump half my stuff - I haven't actually read Sophie's choice but I know that she has to make a tough decision in it - I imagine it was on a par with me jettisoning my tennis racquet and one of my hoodies. My new bag weighed 9KG when loaded and more importantly fitted in the overhead cabin space.

tomorrow, I am fulfilling a lifelong dream and going to the magical land of Pikachu and Pikachu related memorabilia - JAPAN!!!!!
