Drove from San Simeon to Carmel over the course of the day.. I was expecting to get there around 1pm.. but I underestimated Big Sur tremendously. I made any excuse I could to prolong my journey through this magical swath of land. I must have stopped at least 20 times to take in dramatic view after absurdly dramatic view.

Spent a good hour or so on the wind-tunnel sands of the pretty hard to find and remote Pfeiffer Beach. Violent waves crash against the rocks and snake through the natural rock tunnels.

I then tried to get some work done from Nepenthe which is a restaurant perched high above the Pacific.. we were welcomed with almost a dozen California Condors (there are less than 200 in the wild in the world) sweeping for prey above us.. after about half an hour of distraction-filled work.. I decided it's not worth the effort and worked on a Guinness instead.

Finally arrived in Carmel/Monterrey at 8pm.. I decided I'd stay in a hostel for a change of pace. So far.. it's a great idea.. very social.. and is in ideal location just a block up from the Monterey Aquarium.

I could have put in twice as many vista pictures.. but I'm sure all these pictures look like the same thing after a while.
