Went around 50kms or so down the coast towards Guatemala to a place called Mazunte. This is a fantastic little beach town, with just a few small restaurants and places to stay (hammock, tent or bed) right on the beach.
One highlight of Mexico was watching a soul-funk cover band, playing everything from James Brown to Prince. The singer, a local, could have been James Brown愀 son by the way he was singing, it was incredible. Backed by a three piece rhythm section, this singer rocked my socks off and made me really miss playing in Pablo Discobar back home.
Another thing worth mentioning is the amount of hilarious dudes around - one guy helped us organise a turtle and dolphin spotting trip, he was either drunk or stoned 24/7, which was a common thing amongst waiters on the beach restaurants as well
So yeah, went on this boat trip and saw 3 live sea turtles! One of them was actually trapped and held by one crew member, which I thought was pretty inhumane and wrong. We didn愒 see any dolphins, but the crew did point out 2 nudist beaches and a massive white rock - the whiteness due to the fact that it is a sanctuary for birds and they excrete on it year-round. After a spot of snorkelling, I literally jumped onto the back of a "colectivo" - covered ute thing, and hung on for dear life as we headed towards our bus back to the capital.
