Beach time with Neil Cannon

Met up with Neil Cannon, a mate from uni who has been living there for 6mths. His spanish is significantly better than mine, he has a Chilean girlfriend Annette who quite closely resembles Pocahontas, and they only speak in spanish.
Beautiful weather led to much time at the beach with Neil and friends. They all live in apartment towers right next to the beach, with swimming pools etc.
Pacific Ocean water was pretty cold, I was pretty much the only one to swim for more than 2 seconds. Neil was soft and unaustralian and only got his toes wet. Swimming pool water was ridiculously warm, it felt kind of wrong.
Had dinner with Cannon and Annette before heading out to a party in one of the apartments. Cannon and I smelt what we thought was a BBQ (asado) but the fire engine sirens 5 minutes later alerted us to a house fire about a block away... After the house party we went out to a club-type place with surprisingly good music, considering my dislike of cheesy latin pop. Alcohol is very very cheap here, around A$1.50 - 2 for a litre bottle of beer, there is also very cheap wine and chile's favourite spirit, pisco, which they drink mainly with coke.
