So there I am at the Helsinki airport early, which is good. I get another stamp in my passport, tell me how exciting that is. I walk around the airport for a little while, do some duty free shopping - bottle of Baileys the most important purchase there, and then at 1.30pm we finally get to board. So goodbye Finland and hello England. Now let me tell you about the flight. Oh my goodness how much do I despise children. Other than Jasper, Lotus and Slade of course whom I love. To begin with there was a baby, about 6 months maybe who screamed the ENTIRE trip, the trip was just over 3 hours. Then there were a couple of other children who screamed and yelled at each other the whole trip to, not to mention the two little boys who ran up and down the aisle. Yeah I love kids!!!!
Other than that the flight was quite good. We got put into a holding pattern upon arrival into London airspace so we circled for maybe 20 minutes. Finally we landed but then the arrival / departure gate that we were to head to was not cleared so we had to sit on the runway for another 10 minutes. Finally we get to the gate and can now get off the damn plane... Mind you trying to exit Terminal 1 and Heathrow is not the easiest of feats. The walkway near seemed to end, and there were no toilets.... Finally get to the customs / immigration area and I get this really cute officer - finally someone cute. So me being me I unshamefully flirted my way through the entire process. Apparently, so Libbee just told me, I gave the wrong answer to the officer. When he asked where I was staying tonight, I didn't know and he didn't like that, so.... But I got through so all is good.
It was wonderful seeing Libbee, it has been way to long since I have seen her and getting a Libbee hug was exactly what I needed. Mind you I did sprout a tear or 50... Maybe Libbee did too, but that is her story to tell not mine...
How do I explain my thoughts about London, the airport, the tube and the people. Mmmm the airport, I am told that I came into the wrong Terminal, which explains a fair bit, because if this is Heathrow, it is ugly and dirty. The toilets, when I finally found them were dirty and the lights didn't work... I am now getting a little scared, worrying about being pickpocketed. It happens here apparantley... We got this lovely man Steve when trying to buy a tube / bus pass, and he helped a lot. So I got my first Oyster card, rather than getting it for a month, he suggested only getting a prepaid till I get back from Europe trip. Being on the tube was interesting. Libbee mentioned that people don't look at you or speak to you, I thought she was fibbing but no, they are actually not polite, why is it that people are not polite anymore? Between Finland, who pride them selves on their free international education, but don't teach manners, and English people who are just rude, I wanna go home and never leave the house again. The tube was good though, at least now I know how to get around and where Libbee lives compared to the city and Laura etc. Will be quite interesting when I get back from my tour and have to try and get around on my own. Might get lost hahahaha.
I am now sitting here in Libbee's little flat which is so adorable... We were going to go out for dinner this evening but it is cold and wet here so I think we are now ordering pizza and maybe having a Bailey's. I think, I will need an early evening, seeing as I have to be at the hotel by 6am....
So that is me, an new country and tomorrow off to more. YIPPEEE.
You know you love me
