Finally, Back in Oregon. I still remember the feeling that I got when I walked out of the airport in Portland. The air was so fresh, I felt like I could breath twice as much of the air because It wasn't as heavy.
I arrived home just in time for Doug and Jess' reception in Scappoose after their Honeymoon. After that weekend I headed straight up to Astoria to help Jere setup the boat for the MCR Job.(Mouth of the Columbia River). We were staying in Clatskanie and working in Astoria, so every day we had a 60 mile commute to get to the boat. At least I had time to drink my coffee in the morning. Once the second boat and survey crew arrived we rented a beach house in Gearhart. This was great because it had all the creature comforts and we could all combine our food perdiem and BBQ some sweet steaks or fish or ribs or whatever rich food you want. I don't eat this good at home. Ryan Poff was from Louisiana, he definately had the masterplan when it came to the kitchen. We needed more help because I knew I was leaving at the end of the month so I called up Jed Gray, a friend of mine who lived in Albany. And he came up to get training and take my place when I was done, It was cool to finally have someone I knew from outside of surveying get to come in and understand what I was doing when I'm gone all the time.
I stayed until the end of the month and then I headed straingt to Eugene. I had to find a place to live before band camp started. And soon after that, another year of school.
