Something else happened at camp today, that I will never forget. Each day at the end of camp, the coaches & I recap by reinforcing to the campers what we practiced and taught that day. After the coaches are finished lecturing the campers, everyone huddles up in a circle with our hands in the middle. The campers choose a phrase or word to end the day with
. In days in the past we have ended with sayings like "together", “hard work” and “defense” but today, a camper decided that we were going to shout “Never forget Tome” & everyone agreed. I cannot share in words in this blog how this moment made me feel, but I can tell you that it might be one of the most rewarding and satisfying feelings that I have ever felt in my life. I know I have brought happiness and joy to this community and to me that's succeeding. Wow what a day!
Monday (Day 25)- Today camp commenced with our regular routine of stretches and sprints and then we divided the campers into four groups. There is an older division ages (16-19) & younger division ages (13-16) division and they are also separated by gender. That took up some time, trying to make the teams as even as possible. We then in these groups split up into the different stations and had the campers get accustomed to practicing with their new teams. Overall the day was amazing, the camp had great energy and we needed it.
