Yikes, it's been a while. I was back to Jo’burg for a couple of weeks, mostly to get the rest of the dental work done (nothing to say about that, except that if you’re afraid of drills Xanax works wonders). A big project for work took up a lot of time. I’ll add some photos from the Zoo Lake Park, a large artificial wetlands and family park close to where I was staying, and a collection of Jo’burg flowers, since everything was in bloom when I got back, and they were gorgeous.

So, I got to Cape Town just over a week ago, and between that big project for work and running all over town I’ve been running ragged. Things done/seen so far: top of Table Mountain (great view), Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, World of Birds & Monkey Jungle, beaches at Camps Bay/Clifton, parts of the City Bus Tours, the Aquarium and V&A Waterfront, Simon’s Town and Boulder Penguin Colony (twice, since it was cloudy the first time).

Cape Town is beautiful. I’m staying in an area called Observatory, which is made up mostly of old-style row-type houses, and houses a lot of long-time city residents and international students attending the university here. It takes a bit to get from here to downtown, but my street is quiet, so it’s a good base. Had I known more about the area, though, I’d have stayed somewhere on the stretch between Kalk Bay and Simon’s Town, and come into the city to do things. That stretch of beach is about as pretty as anywhere I’ve ever seen.

Anyway, I’ll be filling in some pages about that list of things above in the coming week or so. And I’ve got a couple of activities booked, weather permitting, that I’ll be better about posting, promise!
