We had intended to stop at the Cedar Forests to see the Barbary Apes, but missed the turning and just drove past. We did see a few monkeys at the roadside, but decided not to turn back and continued on towards the Middle Atlas. On our route we came across a campsite, just north of Midlet, at a Kasbah out in middle of nowhere surrounded by flat barren land. We were very excited to find the facilities in excellent condition (for Moroccan standards), as we had suffered a cold shower in Fes this morning. Not only did we get a hot shower we also got to taste Berber tea, given to us by the friendly staff. This wasn't a nice experience; in fact it's absolutely disgusting. It's incredibly sweet and tastes nothing like tea. I debated disposing of it in one of the ornaments on the side, but instead forced myself to politely drink it.
