I've spent 2 days in Pushkar being incredibly lazy, but I really needed it and Pushkar is just the place to do that. There aren't that many sites to see, just lots of temples that I was too lazy to go and see (I'm sure there will be plenty more). The main attraction is the holy lake, which is surrounded by temples and mountains in the distance. Pushkar is a sacred Hindu town and many people come here to dip in the sacred water. It's very easy being vegetarian here because meat is banned from the town, as well as eggs and alcohol.
Pushkar has a very touristy, hippy vibe, with lots of shops, restaurants and yoga/meditation classes. I would have liked to have done a yoga class, but haven't felt very well since the dog bite incident (I think it's just the injections, so hopefully I'll feel better soon).
I spent most of my time in Pushkar drinking chai and shopping. Not a great idea considering I've now got to carry it. I started off resricting myself to only purchasing small things, so ended up with 2 rings. But the temptation of buying clothes got too much and I ended up buying trousers, dresses and scarfs. Most of which I could probably survive without...but they were so cheap and I'm so stupid...don't know if I'm even going to be able to close my bag, never mind carry it!
Yesterday I had arranged to meet Steve for breakfast, but the battery on my phone was dead so I had no alarm and completly overslept. Obviously he wasn't still having breakfast when I showed up 2 1/2 hours late! So we spent most of the day apart, just meeting up in the evening for dinner. We are now going seperate ways; Steve to Jodpur and I'm going to catch a night bus to Udaipur. Steve has been really great company and I've really enjoyed travelling with him, it's a pity we have different plans.
