My preparations for this trip seem to have been going on for months, so I'm ready to hit the road. The hardest decision of all was deciding to quit my job to go travelling, which also meant leaving New York and moving back to England. The next decision was where should I go and for how long. Then came the travel vaccines, a total of 10 jabs including Rabies, Hep A + B, Typhoid, Tetanus and Meningitis. At some point I had intended to get down to some serious reading of my guide books. I did flick through them and put stickies on almost every page, but its hardly going to help me, because I'd need 3 years to be able to do everything I've marked. Somewhere along the line I forgot to read about Delhi, my first destination and I'm going to be thrown completely into the deep end!

I know absolutely nothing about Delhi. I have no accommodation booked, I don't know what there is to see there, if anything, or how long I will stay there. So I'm really well prepared! Oh, I also have no cash, so if there isn't an ATM at the airport getting into the city might be quite difficult. Actually I don't even know how I'm going to get into the city, or how far away it is. But I do have my Indian visa, so at least I can get into the country and I'll have to work the rest out when I get there.

I managed to carry my backpack around the house for about 2 minutes, before having to take it off because it's so damn heavy. I think I need to get a trolley to push it around the world!
