Jumping off one bus we were standing on the road ready and waiting to catch our next bus to Monteverde. To our dismay we found we had been fed some incorrect information - the last coach had already departed and the next one wasn't until the following day. We were stranded in the middle of nowhere. It was late in the afternoon and with hitch hiking or an expensive AU$200 (over) taxi ride to our destination we weren't left with many options. With the sun slowly lowering in the sky, our choice was made for us when a nice old man pulled over in a mini van. We all piled in and he drove us 30 mins to the next town. I never thought I would be hitch hiking in Central America!

So it was good bye and thank you to the friendly local and a long taxi ride before we finally made it to Monteverde! Unfortunately the rain had followed us and this was the first cold weather we had felt since landing in Mexico City.

Monteverde is set high in the mountain tops and nestled amongst the dense misty cloud forest. With amazing views, the area is filled with an extensive array of biodiversity. Known for its incredibly long zip lines, stretching above and through the forest canopy, the opportunity to fly through the air like Superman or swing on a rope like Tarzan was an easy sell!

It was a dark and rainy night, there was a knock at our hotel room door. Our wine tainted chatter turned to silence as we all looked at one another with curiosity, we all turned to Simon. With a quick peek through the sheer curtain and a quick swipe of the door we were greeted by a half soaked Canadian man I recognised from earlier in the day. 'Hi, I'm John Carlos, would you guys mind if I joined you to the boarder of Costa Rica? I've had a falling out with my friends and you all seem pretty cool!' With barely a glimpse back Solomon shakes the mans hand and welcomes the young traveller. 'Thank God! Another guy!'

The following morning we did a Jeep boat Jeep to La Fortuna!
