He was a little strange but quite funny
He toured us around town
A cigar factory we found
Then onto a bus?
He was losing our trust
He may want our kidneys
Nah! Don't be silly!
2 hours later our destination is reached
All for an ice cream,'The best in town!' he preached!
Then back on the bus for the 2 hour ride home
A trip out for lunch turned to a really long.....
WASTE OF TIME!
After our non adventure with our new friend Danny we head for a real adventure exploring the Somoto Canyon.
With five of us squeezing into a tiny taxi, it was hard to make ourselves comfortable for the half hour ride to the canyon. Pouring out in a pool of sweat once reaching our destination, we were all very ready to stretch our legs and explore.
Greeted by the flat, dry expanse of bush land we had a short, dusty walk ahead of us before being able to explore the beautiful and dramatic rock formations. Wearing our thongs as paddles on our hands, we float along in our life jackets, allowing the current to usher us between sheer 100m high rock faces which in some places were only a few meters wide. Barefoot and excited we scaled the sides, only to jump back into the cool water some 25 meters below. As we reach the bottom of the stream and the end of the tour, we all enjoyed the last of the cool water flowing over our bodies before squeezing back into the tiny taxi to head back to Esteli.
Note: After picking up parasites somewhere along the way, faced with very dry shrubs and a half empty water bottle, I discovered that my stomach now had terrible timing and no patience to wait. Unlucky!
