Where I stayed
We got on a direct train to Perugia but got a little mixed up with which station to get off on because there were three in Perugia but only one with the link to the their local 'mini metro'. We got off on the wrong one so had to wait 30 mins to get a train back but that was too bad. Once we got to the main station known by the locals as Fontevegge we got the bus to the Perugia Nestle chocolate factory. The name of this station is what confused us. The directions to the hotel directed us to this station from where we could get the bus to the the chocolate factory and the mini metro to the hotel but the train station is actually just called 'Perugia' and it's the mini metro called Fontevegge...phew we worked it out but it was hard with our limited Italian
We put our bags in a luggage store and caught a bus to the Perugia chocolate factory. We were both a little disappointed with the chocolate factory tour. We expected something similar to the cadbury one where you actually tour the factory but you didn't actually get to walk through the factory, you walked on an enclosed bridge over the top looking down and not much was operating either (in the summer they don't make as much chocolate). Still worth it though because of course, it is a chocolate factory.
The bonus was Perugia itself. This is a lovely area, very pretty and a beautiful old town. Early night tonight, the first for a long time, ready for a big day of travel to Pompeii tomorrow.
