We left this morning at 9:00 to walk into town to go to the Quicksilver Dock to go out onto the Great Barrier Reef - and WOW - it was awesome!
The weather was great like 75-80 degrees and for the most part the sun stayed out and there were only a few showers which quickly passed.
When we arrived on the pontoon, we could see a ton of little fishies swimming around right next to the feet of the safety guards - it was a little creepy! Then we got to go snorkeling - how beautiful - seeing in real life what I have only seen in pictures was awesome! For years I have been looking at pictures of the reef, dreaming of what it would look like to see it up close and personal and now I have!
After a fabulous buffet lunch, it was time for another chance of a lifetime - SCUBA DIVING! Holy moly I have never experienced something so amazing in my entire life! We spent about 45 minutes underwater - looking at fish of all shapes and sizes, form ity-bity babies to fish that were about 2-3 feet long - it was amazing! We were able to touch a clam - that closed when we touched it - an anemone which felt sticky and watch fish come face to face with us! It was something that Kellie, Lisa, Jason or I have never experienced! There was a video taper along with us that a video of us diving which we all chipped in and bought and Jason is going to make us copies of! I am super excited to have that video to share with my family and friends! We also took pictures - but the camera did not rewind correctly and the film may have been ruined we can only hope that at least some of the pictures will turn out! I will be very upset if they don't!
We got off the reef around 5:00 tonight so it was a long, but great day - one of my favorites, although I think I may say that everyday!
So many great adventures - so many great memories! I can't wait for more!
