Our tickets also included a 45 minute boat tour of the Boston Harbor. It was really cool to see the city from a completely different angle an to see the ports and piers used by immigrants from Europe.
As we left the ship and headed to the Quincy Market for a little shopping it started to rain like no other. So we shopped a little before heading out for our drive to Maine. Tonight we are staying in a bed and breakfast in Camden Maine. Tomorrow we head out for St Andrews Canada to see some of the best tides in the world!
This morning we drive into Boston to see the city. We took the Old Town Trolley so we could see as much of the city as possible in the short amount of time we had there. Our first stop was at the Charlestown Navy Yard where we were able to board the USS Constitution. The USS Constitution is the oldest ship that is still considered in active duty in the world. She fought during the Revolutionary War and was given the nickname 'Old Ironsides'. We also got to see the decommissioned ship the USS Casson Young. From there we boarded the trolley to the Cheers bar were we had a fantastic lunch in the bar that inspired the tv series. It was really cool! After that we hung out on the trolley as we drove past the Boston Massacre sight, Fenway Park and the Boston Tea Party ships. Our last stop was at Beacon Hill where we saw the Freedom Trail and historic burial grounds.
