This morning, we left Rome and took a train to Pompei to see the ruins left by a volcanic eruption in 79 AD.  It was really cool to walk around and see what is left of the town.  In around 1748, they found it and began to unearth and discover what was buried underneath 30 feet of lava!  They found so many things such as jars and marble statues, homes and they were even able to make molds of people and animals!  It was kind of creepy to walk around and think about the terror that they must have felt, but really cool to see such an amazing piece of history!

After our morning in Pompei, we boarded a train for a 6.5 hour train ride to Venice.  It was a long ride!  When we stepped off the train and walked out of the station, all that awaited us was water taxis!!  We got on the correct taxi and made it to our hotel in time to fall into a much needed sleep!!

I love and miss you all!
