Today was a great (and very tiring) day in Rome!  Cassie and I took a walking tour of Rome while Kim and Sarah explored on their own.

Cassie and I saw a really cool church that from the outside, looked like a normal building, but inside, there were huge statues and marble everywhere!  It was so pretty!!  We were also able to see catacombs, which are human bones in an artistic form.  It was kind of creepy, but really cool at the same time!!  We saw capital hill, where Italy's Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is as well as many other statues and monuments that I cannot remember right now!!  Finally, we made it to the Colosseum!  It was really neat to walk around and see the field where so many gladiators fought!  We also took a tour of Palentine Hill, which is the ruins of emperor's palaces.  In many places, you could see the marble from the buildings and pieces of buildings!  It was really cool to think about how old each of those places where Rome

We ended our day by touring St. Peter's Basillica in Vatican City.  When we got there, it was pretty empty, so we did not have to wait in line at all!  I was amazed at how large and beautiful it was!  I think that is my favorite thing so far on this trip!!

Today was a very tiring day and included a lot of walking, but Rome was the city that I was most excited about!  So even though it was a long day, I am really happy about everything that I got to see!

I love and miss you all,

xx Tanya
