Cochrane is a really cute little town just north west of Calgary.  Our friends Richard and Varnita live just about 20 minutes north of the town on their Ranch the "VR".  They are gracious hosts and invited us to visit for our few days in the area.  I could go on and on about the beautiful setting and the unique features of the gorgeous log home with breathtaking views, but I will let you take a look at the pictures for yourself.  Richard and Varnita raise their own beef and Richard treated us to a wonderful Alberta steak dinner while we were there.  The 3 dogs residing at the ranch are Gus (Mephisto's boyfriend she met while in Mexico) Chaz (Gus's brother)  and Diesel.  Take a look at the pics of all six together at the  ranch!

We were able to visit a little 102 year old country store near the ranch and get some farm fresh eggs, strawberries and fishing licenses.  One day we fished the nearby DogPound Creek.  It is famous for brown trout.  We met some locals and their dog Bo who is an Italian breed of sheepdog called "mirama" (sp?) 

We had a great visit and it was so good to see Richard again- unfortunately Varnita was stuck in Mexico for the rest of the week - we wish her well on the house project which is coming along nicely.
