A great day!

Left La Bufadora and drove over and thru the mountains to San Quintin. On the way we had a "picnic" when we stopped in San Vicente for a rest (pee break) and there was a bakery (panaderia) right in front of us!!!
I wont' bore you with the details but look at the pics - don't we all look 10 pounds heavier?? the bread was fresh and warm and the sweets were great.

Then while we were standing in the parking lot sharing bites a woman walked by with homemade warm tamales for 80 cents each (gringo price) with her little girl. Of course we bought one and talked the little girl into posing for a picture....we gave her a giant Hershey Chocolate bar and she was thrilled ..... a star is born.

The 3 mile long washboard road down to the bay to the "Old Mill" at San Quinton was grueling but once we got here we found it was well worth it. We decided to go clamming at Santa Maria Beach and bake clams for dinner....the wind was blowing about 20 miles and hour and the temp was probably 60. I don't know the water temperature of the Pacific but let's just say once we got there we decided wading out in waist deep water for fresh clams was not an option!!

It was a great beach and we met some cute kids who's parents were out clamming. We passed out more candy and went back to the Old Mill Restaurant for clams!!

thanks for checkin'
