Yesterday Carolyn and I walked up to the fruit stand to get another load of bread! Di - guess what came out to greet me - a two month old Shitzu! Be still my heart!!!! I picked up that little 1 lb wonder and she just snuggled in my neck. Then the little two year old boy who lived in the house came out and we discussed the puppy! I have pics but will up load them at another time. It was great just to cuddle the little dog!!!!!
Well, we're still at Black Point waiting out the weather and have homesteaded and fallen in love with this out island and its people. We are using Lorraine's computers (didn't feel like slepping ours in waterproof bags) and looking out the window at the school. All the kids are there with their dark forest green skirts/pants and yellow shirts waiting to get into school.
The boaters we have met are heading for the Dominican Republic - Moondance is leaving their boat there, Lizzard is going from the DR back up to Ft Walton Beach (takes 1 week), Wanderrer is going to wander down to Trinidad and ArCas is going from the DR and I think back up to Florida west coast. We are the only ones going to the Abacos.
We were going to go to Georgetown with them but everyone is waiting out this new weather front. The seas are way up and you can't really get down there on the banks. Everyone is plotting their next move and no one is moving!!! If you get to Farmers Cay then you're stuck with no hidey hole and have to go on the outside. Georgetown would still be a week away if we wait out the front.
The weather has been really blowing out of the ESE now - it's been 15-20+ for the past week and continuing to blow but we see a break before the weekend (Thurs-Sun we're E 20+ again). So, now we are thinking that it's time to turn around. It's almost May. Time sure does fly!!! So, we're heading north to see the Cays we didn't see on the way down. Plan on tucking in at Norman (not the pond this time!!!) to wait out the strong easterlies this weekend. There isn't anything on the Cay except McDuffs bar - so at least we'll have a place to hang! From there we're going to Highbourne and Allens (to check out the Iguanas) and then over to Spanish Wells for a while.
Spanish Wells is on Eluthera and a totally different town than any of the other island towns. We'd like to spend a few days there and wait for a weather window to head up the NE Providence Channel to Little Harbor, Abaco. Not sure when we'll have internet again. So....that's it for now.
God is Great! Life is Good!
